Love Cannot be understood. The greater and more mystic it is, the more we in fall in love.
Fear of Loss
It sometimes feels, when looking at life objectively and setting emotions aside, that the world is designed to offer us something extraordinary, impactful, and moving—only to take it away without hesitation. This fear of loss becomes deeply ingrained, leaving us clinging tightly to the wonderful things we encounter, almost beyond our control.
In short, paradoxically, our emotions become forced and unnatural as we face fear, unconsciously compromising our true selves and individuality.
In a sense, any newfound joy—whether it’s a person we love, a fulfilling activity, or a meaningful experience—becomes part of who we are, reflecting our sense of being and embedding itself into our personality. Consequently, when we sense that we might lose this newfound joy, we struggle to let go, as it feels like releasing a part of ourselves or the new self we’ve come to cherish in that joy.
How do you balance both forces? Simply put, you can trust that, just like the gentle wind pushing the sail of the sailboat you’ve boarded, life will always carry you forward, with a bright sunrise ahead.
Florida Fall
The gentle soft wind quietly reminds me that summer is over. My soul re-emerges on a light happy note. Reminding me the heat wave is over.
The madness behind, I can quietly cherish the calmness of the fall, the ease of upcoming “winter”, the happy festivities and the light crowd in upcoming months.
The soft evening soft wind with winter colors are tender, gentle and gives you a sense of hope that new things are ahead. Yet, the past always lurks behind with its gentle soft memories and you wonder if you could ever re-live those wonderful memories in past that you so wonderfully cherished with someone special. You can smile and rest assured that those memories are always with you giving you a sense of hope/motivation that you can accomplish anything you ever wish and desire.
You tend to hold on firmly to those memories with all your might and wonder the millions of scenarios that could have unfolded.
The sun sets, the night comes along and at moment, all we can do, is wish ahead
Why Lululemon will fall into the inevitable path of a fad
I had sort of epiphany yesterday while walking around Lululemon store as I really struggle to Buy anything in the store due to how outrageous the prices are. So I pretended that there are no logos, no branding, no marketing and stripped the clothes from all the elements associated with the brand. At its essence, it’s the most boring clothes you could ever see.
What makes it attractive? The overpriced branding. The association with the brand. The desire to be cool. The desire to feel included in the community. Its in our DNA. We lived in tribes since early ages and we will always be in a tribe. Nowadays, it takes a different form. We associate with the brand and we feel a sense of belonging. The desire to be in a tribe is a fundamental human need. We all have a longing for a sense of belonging and community.
When we swipe our credit card for a 120 Dollars shirt. We feel superior and protected because we have now entered the realm of a new tribe. The insatiable desire, the act of possessing is more important than the thing possessed.
I dare you to challenge anyone in the Lululemon tribe that the clothes are boring. You will be fought and insulted just like our ancestors fought against intruders in the tribe. They will break all their morals, principles of buying overpriced clothes because the desire of belonging outweigh the negative perceptions they see with the brand. You will be fought implacably with no mercy if you insult the tribe. I don’t care how expensive it is because I want to belong. This is the mindset.
Well, here is where things get interesting. Let’s take the new example Alo Yoga brand which is recently gaining traction. Its the new tribe. Our ancestors found against other tribes that were deemed a threat. I’m not saying Alo will eventually take over the market of Lululemon but I’m just citing it as an example. Alo is becoming popular and quickly gaining market share. Its the new cool tribe.
Conflict between tribes could also lead to change. For example, a tribe that was defeated in battle might be forced to adopt the culture of the victorious tribe. Alo is becoming the new cool brand. It is challenging Lululemon. It is now perceived as the new cool brand among the market share Lululemon has been enjoying in past decade.
Eventually tribe members will see their current tribe as running out of fashion and they will lose the sense of belonging. Because the cool tribe members have joined another tribe. Its a culture war between tribes. In a sense, Alo is beating Lululemon at its own game. The feeling of superiority and the irresistible desire of belonging will eventually push Lululemon customers to join the new cool tribe because we are social creatures, and our self-actualization is dependent on our relationships with others.
Inner beauty precedes outward beauty and paradoxically, one cannot be perceived without the other
New England
I was told before that there was no better place to be in the summer than New England. I have always tried to understand why with very little luck. Is it the mild, soft weather? Is it the architecture? Is it the raw beauty of nature? Is it the hundreds of miles of coastline that zigzag endlessly while overlooking the ocean? I’m not sure why.
Maybe I’m romanticizing an innocent childhood spent roaming wild and free along the coastlines of Morocco. It seems to evoke a certain indescribable joy within me. Stumbling upon a quaint fishing shack nestled behind a coastal village. As I entered, the aroma of various seafood offerings filled the air. I approached the cashier, seeking recommendations, but before I could even finish my sentence, she enthusiastically replied, ‘You’ve got to try the salmon burger.’ And before I could finish the first bite, the bursting flavors of the salmon burger reminded me that I was in New England.
The day, of course, is spent at the beach, strolling near the ocean and savoring the beautiful architecture of the New England summer homes. The water is always refreshingly cool, gently reminding you that winter is just around the corner. It’s hard to believe that this entire area will soon be covered in snow, giving it a whole new meaning. I asked a local, ‘What do you guys do during the winter?’ and he enthusiastically replied, ‘There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. We bundle up and engage in winter activities. The mountains are just around the corner, and I can’t wait for what the next season has to offer’.
The evenings are filled with beautiful sunsets watching sailboats roam around without a care in the world. The food and night scenery quickly takes over the place and the air is filled with joy and laughter.
I’m bewildered and still don’t understand why New England is so appealing. Then it sort of hit me recently. My daughter tried a new equestrian club and I asked her if she liked it. She said “Not really”. I asked her why and her response was that she didn’t feel it and vibe was sort of weird even though it was beautiful. She was struggling to find the words as well. She wants to go back to her previous club because its more relaxed and nicer. Again, she couldn’t find the words to express why she liked it better.
Then I realized that there are certain things that can’t be adequately conveyed through words; they must be savored in silence. Words, in a sense, can only express so much, and we must appreciate beauty in its intrinsic form. In a way, it defies explanation or description; it must be relished in its unadulterated state, in silence, with a smile
