Obsessed with Sinners: A Night in New Orleans’ Blues Scene

Feeling exasperated, happy and content after watching movie Sinners 4 freakin times in Disney theatres with 5D/dolby sound tech or whatever you want to call it. I was completely encapsulated in the experience and was an insane transcendal experience. Magic of arts. Magic of Cinema.

I want more, I’m obsessed with the magic of Cinema. I should go back to the old grounds of New Orleans. Not sure why but it takes me back to my first date in Louisiana was with a southern woman from Mississippi. We used to walk aimlessly for hours around the French quarter exploring food options.

One day, we stumbled into an underground Blues club. We ventured in not knowing what to expect. In distance, with minimal light and cigar smoke, you could barely see the band sitting in the right corner. Natural light was coming from the upper left side gleaming downwards towards them, relentlessly. The artists were sitting in tiny chairs with their gigantic musical instruments, sweating profusely. Blues Music was torching through the air, loud and magical. Art was in full blown cataclysmic event. The intensity of the artists and how they moved, pushing the limits of their musical instruments left the audience wanting more.

We looked at each other stupefied. We just sat there the entire afternoon in absolute awe. We didn’t budge. Neither the cigar smoke or heavy smell of Alcohol bothered us. We were transported into another universe.

Later that evening, I was sitting in the car in passenger seat. The Mississippi woman with her magic eyes approached me. She jumps onto my seat. Sparks were flying. Just like inside the blues club earlier.

Then, we got startled by gun shots within 20 feet. We were in New Orleans after all. Cops showed up, street fights, car tires screeched, We looked at each other, laughed incotrolabily and took off, on to the next adventure. Tempestuous, we live!
